In my former life as a teacher, I spent three days each Christmas season shopping, making chocolates, packaging plates or boxes, and delivering them to teachers, neighbors, and friends. The six recipes I include here -- conspicuously missing the actual recipe for my caramel brownies with nuts -- were my signature expression of love. (My love language is chocolate, apparently.) I still make chocolates on a much smaller scale these days, and I haven't made the chocolate peanut butter balls since my children -- the official ball rollers -- left the nest. I am still famous for my brownies, the two fudges, and the toffee (called "Heath Bar on steroids").
