AMBITION WORKSHOP

Improving the collaboration in an executive team is not a goal in and by itself.

Collaboration only makes sense if you have a common project.

To have a common project you need a common goal.

To be energized to get there you need a common dream.

The emphasis of this workshop is on the future.

Starting from your common dream, you will develop a common goal, a rough strategy and a compelling story to get there.

The best team building is not done while building rafts or climbing mountains, but by improving the way you collaborate while you are doing the job your are paid for as a team.

If the ambition workshop must lead to an important revision of the company strategy, I like to facillitate this together with Prof Dr Paul Verdin, with whom this workshop was developed and who is a specialist in strategy development.

Ambition Workshop

WHAT?

A 1.5 day work session, developed with my colleague prof Paul Verdin, to address the following key questions for a successful implementation of your strategy:

    • What are the key ingredients of our shared ambition – what is it that we jointly strive for, what is our ‘common glue’ in implementing the strategy?
    • What do we stand for and what are the key changes we need to push for in order to realize that plan
      • towards our customers
      • towards our colleagues and employees in order to win their ‘hearts and minds’?
    • What difference should we make to our clients and customers in terms of our
      • value proposition
      • our distinctive and sustained advantage or competitive edge in the markets we are focusing on?

HOW?

    • A simple but structured process with limited key inputs and facilitated group discussions covering the following key steps:
      • Identifying and agreeing on the key elements of our renewed ambition
      • Highlighting the main opportunities for an enhanced offer to customers
      • Anticipating the main obstacles and barriers to be overcome
      • Agreeing on the top priorities for our role as leaders in mobilizing and cascading our shared ambition in carrying out our strategy
    • Limited and focused pre-session preparation with key questions and short written input ahead of the meeting , based on preparatory interviews with key players

EXPECTED OUTCOME

    • A clear and shared message on the key elements of our ambition going forward – across businesses and functions
    • A reference point for our leadership and management efforts to lead and support the implementation of the strategy within each of the businesses and functions
    • An input to the subsequent and broader process that has been planned in order to win the hearts and minds of our employees and colleagues - and of our customers.
