In 1911 John William Sibley Lowe, 40, born in Portsea, Hampshire, lived at 20 Holden St Battersea, where the household had 5 rooms. He worked as an inspector for the London Fire Brigade, employed by London County Council. Rose Emma Lowe, his wife, 39, was from Plaistow, Essex. In 1911 the couple had two children: Blanche Maggie Mahala Lowe, 14, born in Tooting, south-west London, and Charles Bertie Lowe, 11, born in Brompton, south-west London. John's brother Bertie Guy Lowe, 28, who was in the Navy, was visiting. Also visiting was Florence Beggs, 23, a restaurant waitress from Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Buried at Scartho Road Cemetery, Grimsby. (LCC Record of War Service credits him with a DCM although his Official Number 134114 indicates earlier service in the RN. He is not listed for a WW1 DSM)
