In 1911 Albert Victor Topliss was a 14-year-old student draghtsman, living in four rooms at 52 Venn Street, Clapham with his father, Arthur Topliss, 39, a fancy leather case maker born in Strathnoy, Canada, mother Grace Topliss, 39, born in Chelsea, and two sisters: Violet Topliss, 12, and Florrie Topliss, 10. Albert and Violet were born in Liverpool and Florrie in Bethnal Green, east London.
