In 1911 Henry Maysmor, then 15, was working as a clerk and living with his parents and his three siblings at Carlton Club, 1 Balham Hill, London. His father, William ap Henry Parry, was a 51-year-old secretary of law, who was originally from Chester; his mother, Violet Elizabeth Parry, 50, was from Barnsbury, in north London. Henry's siblings were:

All the children were born in Clapham.

Henry Maysmor Parry was 17 and 4 months when he enlisted as a private in the 14th County of London Battalion of the London Scottish on 21 April 1913. He was examined at 58 Bruckingham Gate and found to be 5 feet 9 and a quarter inches tall, with a 34 three-quarters inch chest, with 3 inches expansion. His vision was "good with glasses" and his physical development was judged to be "good". He gave his previous occupation as "salesman".
He embodied on 5 August and on 15 November 1914 he was transferred. On 31 August 1915 he was discharged to a commission in the Middlesex Regiment.
Parry suffered a slight gunshot wound to his right hand on 15 November 1914 and was moved to the Hospital Ship St David, and sent to England.
When Parry died of wounds on 11 March 1918 at the 66th Casualty Clearing Station of wounds received in action his mother was a widow living at 10 Roseneath Road, Westside, Clapham Common. His estate was valued at £214 7s 5d.
