John Lancelott Langton, described on the census as a "cycle maker" was 18 and assisting in his father's shop at 24 The Pavement, Clapham, within sight of Holy Trinity church. His father, Felix Lancelott Langton, 46, was a cycle maker and dealer, born in Camberwell, and his mother, Clara Louisa Langton, 44, was born in Stockwell. John and his brother, Felix, aged 10, like him born in Stockwell, were Felix and Clara's two surviving children (of three). The family lived above the business in nine rooms.
