Lyme Bay Cider, Devon, United Kingdom

Just when you think you're the only American wandering the English countryside interviewing cider makers, you run into a place like Lyme Bay. I was on my way to meet with some cider makers in Devon and was driving when I saw a sign proclaiming "Cider". I just had to stop. I had no appointment, but they were on my list of people to call, so I popped in. They were much bigger than most of the cider makers I had met with up til now. In fact, they didn't even have an orchard I could see. Mostly a wine place, but who am I to judge? I walked in and was met by a young blonde girl who took my card and said she would find the man I was to speak with. Perhaps she was just used to strangers walking in and wanting to document cider making? A few minutes later she came back and said he had called to postpone our appointment, and to come back in a few hours. Now I knew something was up. I pryed a little and the girl eventually let it spill that someone else from an American university had an appointment to speak with the head cider maker and she just assumed that I was him. I guess all us Yanks do look alike. Still, I am wondering, who was the other American, and just what was he studying?
