Gray's Devon Cider, Devon, United Kingdom

Sitting on his hilltop orchard in Devon, the inheritor of almost 400 years of cider-making history and tradition, Ben Gray makes a truly wonderful cider. I was fortunate enough to spend the day with Ben walking around his orchards, and drinking his cider. A local history buff, Ben was able to tell me numerous stories about the area and point out all the neighboring farms from atop his hill. The cider he makes is made from apples on his land, and a few he is able to cull from the untended orchards of his neighbors. His cider making skills are well known in the region, as many of his neighbors buy his cider, and some even have him press apples for their barrells full of magic.
