Knight's Cider Company, Herefordshire, United Kingdom

When I drove into Knight's Cider, I was completely taken by surprise. I had no idea what to expect. In fact, I had expected something quite opposite. I had spent the morning with a cider maker who was making 1000 gallons a year, and was later in the midst of people who made more than that a week! Clifford Kean was kind enough to drive me up from the village, so I wouldn't get lost. He then gave me the full tour and told me the history as he knew it about the Knight family and their cider house. It was the firt Belmer's press I had seen in use, and I still have a ringing in my ear from that thing! Due to the sheer scale of the production, they use their 200 acres of cider apples and buy in from local farms to keep things running continuously. Most of what they told me, I was asked not to pass on, so I'll stop by saying their Malvern Oak cider was tasty, and cheers to Cliff!
