Lyndon Sobel

Lyndon Sobel grew up in Orange County, playing in school bands, filling in on whatever was needed. He started on soprano clarinet, moving to bass and then alto clarinets. In high school he "discovered" the saxophone (alto and baritone).Over the years, Mr. Sobel has shared his talents will the local institutions of higher learning, playing in nearly all of Cal Poly's and Hancock College's bands, as well as occasionally joining Cuesta College's “No Deadwood” Monday night big band. In addition to filling the first alto chair in Central City Swing, Lyndon enjoys performing in other local professional groups including the Madonna Inn Swing Band, the Joel Rose Swing Band, the Gazebo Band, Sax on the Beach, and the Brass Factory. Lyndon attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where he earned a degree in Construction Engineering and met his wife. Together they currently live in Santa Maria, where he works as a roof truss designer. He also is the “sound man” for his kids and (recently) for Hancock College's Jazz Band. His hobbies include mountain biking, sailing and enjoying craft beer.
