Bruce Scott playing trombone

Bruce Scott was born into a musical family (father, pro clarinetist, and mother, piano teacher & church musician) in Cincinnati, OH. Bruce, who started studying trombone at 12, studied at the Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati before touring with the US Navy music program for 4 years. Bruce has a long list of accomplishments as a lead and solo player, including:

  • Classical venues (San Diego Symphony, Zoo Opera Orchestra, Star Light Opera, etc.)

  • Big bands (Bob Crosby, Les Elgart, Nelson Riddle, Buddy Morrow, etc.)

  • Singers (Edie Gorme/Steve Lawrence, Frank Sinatra Jr., Frankie Lane, Jim Nabors, Sammy Davis Jr., Lou Rawls, etc.)

  • Various artists (Manhattan Transfer, Temptations, Diane Schurr, Bobby Shaw, etc.)

Having moved to the central coast has not inhibited Bruce's musical career, as he continues to play in orchestras (SLO, Santa Maria and Lompoc) and big bands (No Deadwood, Cuesta College Jazz, Central City Swing), as well as backing headliner acts (see "Various artists" above).

Bruce considers himself blessed to be able to share his talents: "Singing and playing is such a gift...to participate in. Music [is a gift] to us all, listeners and performers alike."
