Lee Irwin hails from Fresno California. Despite early school tests which labeled Lee "hearing disabled" (a letter was sent to his parents recommending he not take up any musical instrument), young Mr. Irwin persisted.
His musical journey began in 1967 playing the baritone saxophone. Lee has since mastered most woodwinds, including the saxophone family, clarinet, flute, and bassoon. Lee studied commercial music performance at Sonoma State University and Berklee College of Music.
Lee's musical resume includes Cuesta College Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combos, Cuesta College Wind Ensemble, San Luis Obispo Wind Orchestra, PCPA orchestra, Fresno Community Band, Reedley College band, jazz ensemble and jazz combo, Kingsburg Summer Band, Kings Symphony, Tulare Symphony, Mo Money Dixieland Band, Santa Rosa College Night Concert Band and "A" Jazz Band, Psycho Swine Rock Band, Pacific Swing, and the backup band for Andy Narell.
Lee is currently playing with Central City Swing, Friendly Neighborhood Big Band, Riptide Big Band, and the White Caps community band out of Morro Bay. Lee also leads an 8 piece jazz ensemble named the Jazz Alley Review.
