Zach Barker is a music teacher in the Orcutt Union School District in Orcutt, CA. He teaches elementary music, elementary band, and jazz band. Zach, who is originally from Tennessee, has always loved the saxophone. He went to high school at Peabody High School in Trenton, TN. His middle and high school band teachers inspired him to pursue music as a career. Since it was close to home, he decided to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin to study music. During his time at UT Martin, Zach refined his skills as a saxophone player and also picked up the flute, clarinet, and bassoon. Zach played with many collegiate ensembles including the saxophone quartet, woodwind quintet, and wind ensemble. He graduated from UT Martin with a Bachelor’s in Music Education in May 2015 and moved to California in August 2015. Shortly after his arrival to the central coast, Zach heard about Central City Swing and that they were performing in Arroyo Grande. As of January 2016, he is playing Alto Saxophone in the ensemble.
