Improvement plans are for PTS educators with overall rating of “Unsatisfactory”
The Evaluator must meet with Educator within 10 days of receiving the overall rating of “Unsatisfactory” to discuss the plan.
The educator may request union representation at meetings.
The plan will be developed by the evaluator and signed by both the evaluator and educator. (Signature does not indicate agreement, just receipt.
Length of Plan
• Must be at least 45 School Days
• Must be completed by June 1
• Improvement plan will
• define the “problem(s) of practice” identified in the previous evaluation.
• describe the goals to be met, including measurable outcomes.
• detail the activities the educator must take.
• detail the assistance to be provided to the educator.
• identify who will assist the educator.
• detail the timeline.
• include at least 1 announced observation and 2 unannounced observations if the plan is six months or fewer.
• include at least 1 announced observation and 4 unannounced observations if the plan is one year.
• include at least one formative assessment, approximately mid cycle.
At the conclusion of the plan:
• If the educator's overall rating is "Exemplary" or "Proficient," s/he will be placed on a Self Directed Growth Plan.
• If the evaluator determines the educator is making significant progress towards proficiency, s/he will be placed on a Directed Growth Plan.
• if the educator's overall rating is "Unsatisfactory" or if the evaluator determines the educator is not making significant progress towards proficiency, the evaluator will recommend dismissal to the Superintendent.
