Formative Assessment is done typically at mid-cycle for all plans except 2 year Self-Directed Plans which have a Formative Evaluation. Formative Assessment is different from Formative Evaluation because it does not include ratings, only written feedback. In addition, the Educator Plan type cannot change as a result of a formative assessment (in other words the plan cannot change to Directed Growth or Improvement Plans at this point. However, TeachPoint does not differentiate between these two types of assessments – there is only one form in TeachPoint: the Formative Evaluation Form.
Formative Assessment (Typically by January 15)
• Takes place at approximately mid cycle for all plans except 2 year Self-Directed Growth Plans
• At least 2 weeks before this is due, the educator must provide to the evaluator evidence of family engagement, professional responsibility and growth, and progress towards attaining professional practice and student learning goals. Educator may provide additional evidence.
• Educator and evaluator will meet upon request of either before or after the assessment is complete.
• Educator may reply in writing within 5 school days of receipt.
• Educator must sign within 5 days of receipt. Signature does not indicate agreement.
• Evaluator may change the activities in the plan as a result of the assessment.
