While Teachpoint offers efficiency with regards to communication and documentation of observations, it can interfere with conversations that are critical to ensuring that the evaluation process supports educator growth. Conversations also clarify the decision making process of the educator or administrator before, during and after an observation.
The CEA recommends that the evaluator meet with the educator or administrator prior to sharing the observation form to gather additional information and context from the educator or administrator. In addition, the CEA recommends that the evaluator share the observation form with the educator or evaluator prior to signing it to allow for feedback from the educator/evaluator.
The educator or administrator may respond in writing to the observation. Signature of the observation form does not indicate agreement.
