Spring Trophy 2022 Report

On Saturday 7th of May, the Spring Trophy took place. Organised by the Royal Hospital School (with the kind permission of Anglian Water), the reservoir of Alton water was treated to 94 sailors. With both a Feva and Firefly division, the day saw lots of close-quarters team racing.

The race team, headed by Ed Sibson, was faced with a challenge - a lack of wind for the first half meant the racing could not get started until 12:30pm. Once it did start, frequent wind shifts and raining conditions plagued the course, yet the race committee still managed to complete 65 races. This was only possible due to the many volunteers who had given their time that day.

Due to the late start, finals were not able to take place, but by the end of the day, each team had completed six races, which allowed a top three to be declared:

Firefly:

1st RHS Orange

2nd RHS Blue

3rd Rutland SC

Feva:

1st Rutland SC Gold

2nd Rutland SC Green

3rd RHS Yellow (Y10)

The junior Feva division sailors were able to walk away having learnt a lot, whilst the Firefly division witnessed some heated team racing action!
