Did You See
Did you see that little puppy
Die of shame?
Did you watch it trying
To understand the game?
Did you look into its Soul
As it pawed its empty bowl?
Did you hear its little sigh
Of silent pain?
And did you reason why
On the day you came to buy
Why it's little tail wagged
So full of pride?
It didn't need any pushing,
It ran from its pen a' rushing,
All it wanted
Was to lean against your side.
How it waited so reserved
For the love it so deserved.
It tried so hard
No thought arose to fail.
But it couldn't break the barrier
Of a person who's a carrier
of indifference
To a little drooping tail.
