27 - Reverse Light LEDs

  The OEM backup lights on my car seemed very dim and cast a yellowish light compared to the white light from the LEDs in the new backup camera. I did a bit of research and discovered that T15 bulbs are virtually the same as 921 bulbs. These T15 bulb LED replacements on Amazon are less than $6 for a set of four, and they are only slightly longer than the 921 bulbs they will replace. 

 Each replacement LED "bulb" has 15 LEDs on it (6 on each side and 3 on the top edge). The middle layer has a corrugated metal surface which I think helps to dissipate heat. Unlike some other LED replacement "bulbs", these items are polarity insensitive, so it doesn't matter which way you insert them, they will light up just like conventional filament light bulbs. 

 And they are BRIGHT, with a nice white light. These LED replacement lights are a terrific value at four for less than $6 (at the time of this writing). I've seem similar LED replacements go for as much as $10 a pair. I hope these last a long time.

 This is an easy mod to do and takes less than 10 minutes.

 To access the reverse lights, use a plastic pry tool to remove the interior cover. There is a small notch on each cover (at the upper interior corner) to indicate where to insert your pry bar.

  The reverse light is at the bottom of the light stack. Simply twist the socket counterclockwise to unlock it, them pull it out of the receptacle. 

 Pull the bulb out of the socket and replace it with the new LED light. Unlike some other LED replacement "bulbs", these particular LEB lights are polarity insensitive, so it doesn't matter which way you insert them, they will light up just like conventional filament light bulbs. 

 Reinstall the socket into the receptacle and twist it clockwise to lock it in place.  

 Reinstall the interior cover.
