Scion offers a dealer-installed option to add storage pockets to the C-pillars of the xB. It consists of 2 bolt-on plastic pockets with buit-in storage nets. The list price of this option is $99 but you can find it online for $49.
I like the idea but I don't like the price. So I decided to make my own version...
(This mod took place September 17-18 2011.)
I made a template for each pocket (they are not the same size). Using the template, I planned my stitch patterns and estimated the total length of elastic cord I would need. I used blue masking tape as a guide to help me position and mark the required holes.
Here are both panels pulled and ready to drill. I needed 6 yards of elastic cord to form my nets.I used 2 black bungie cords for the top of the net opening.
Here's the driver's side after installation. The sag in the black bungie is due to the slight pull of all the white elastic cords.
And here is the passenger side.
Total cost for 6 yards of white elastic cord and 2 black bungie cords: $8.
