In early May of 2011, I bought a 2011 Scion xB in Stingray Metallic, with automatic and factory floor mats. There were only 17 miles on the odometer. This is Chapter 1 of the Development of My Box.
First day: at the dealership.
17 miles on the clock.
Day 3: added Bosch rectangular foglights on custom brackets. Bought and installed an OEM fog light switch (part # 84160-12060). Modified the stock lower front grill to frame the foglights. While the front facia was off, also modified the stock engine air intake into a Cold Air Intake and positioned the inlet behind the left "cheek" opening (not shown).
Day 8: replaced the stock steel wheels with Drag 34 16x7 alloy wheels (40mm offset). These have a machined lip and a gunmetal painted center. I kept the stock 16" tire size to retain ride quality. Replaced the stock lug nuts with Gorilla "spline drive" chrome lug nuts. Added McGard "tuner style" wheel locks.
Day 8: later that same day, added Wing Tech OEM style rear spoiler, pre-painted to match the factory Stingray Metallic finish.
(car needs a wash...sorry...)
Day 13: made the front cheek vents functional by opening up the stock cheek vents with an x-acto knife.
You can see my CAI inlet behind the modified vent in the image at the right.
Day 14: replaced stock chrome exhaust tip with 3A Racing stainless steel exhaust tip. I had to trim the end of the OEM exhaust pipe and also modify the exhaust tip. I secured the exhaust tip using a stainless steel exhaust clamp.
Day 21: replaced the rear door speakers with Kicker DS65.2 component speakers. These are 2-way speakers with 6 1/2" woofers. I mounted the tweaters up high and forward in the rear doors.
The separate crossovers have a 3 position tweeter output switch, accessed via small openings at the front of each rear door.
About 1 month after purchase (June 2011):
