Denise Van Outen
Denise Van Outen was the presenter of The Big Breakfast on Channel Four from 2nd September 1996.
She joined the show as the helicopter weather and traffic girl. Before joining Channel 4's early morning slot the 23-year-oldpresenter was in a children's TV show called Scratchy & Co and sang in a band called Those Two Girls.
She left her chopper for the comfy confines of the house in the Summer of 1997 when the Brekkie had some of it's lowest ever viewing figures. In September 1997 she was teamed up with new presenter Johnny Vaughan and the rest as they say was history. Together they turned the show around making it the king of morning TV once more.
She decided to leave Johnny to fend for himself in 1999 and went on to persue an acting career in the ITV sitcom Babes In The Wood. This lasted for two series. She also hosted late night sex quiz show 'Something For The Weekend' which did well in the ratings but Denise relaised she didn't want to be known for smut alone.
Denise returned to The Big Breakfast in 2000 to see Johnny through his last 4 months although the magic was never quite recaptured. The final Johnny & DVO show was possibly one of the greatest editions of The Big Breakfast ever with everything that summed up JV & DVOs era crammed into 2 hours of juicy TV. Since leaving the Breakfast Denise has gone on to have a highly successful West End & Broadway stage show career with starring roles in Chicago and Tell Me On A Sunday.
