Down your doorstep
THE REVIVAL
2021-Present
Melvin Odoom
10th September 2021 - Present
WHERE ARE YOU MELVIN? Famous for his career on breakfast Kiss FM and playing a multitude of zany characters on Dick & Dom in Da Bungalow Melvin was the perfect choice to be the show's new roving reporter when it returned in 2021.
Melvin's first destination was a community centre in Butetown Cardiff and he will be heading around the UK once more when the show returns in 2022.
Alongside The Big Breakfast Melvin hosts BBC Radio Ones's 10:30 - 12:45 show including the famous live lounge.
Harriet Rose
13th August 2022 -
Harriet Rose is used to waking the nation on the Kiss Radio Breakfast Show but now she'll be doing it on tour as she joins Melvin Odoom to form the Big Breakfast's Down Your Doorstep team!
Harriet has this to say about joining the show:
How are you feeling about joining The Big Breakfast?
I couldn’t be more excited to be joining The Big Breakfast team I used to watch the original when I was younger and to be part of this new series is a dream come true. Melvin is one of my favourite people in the world and the whole team are so talented it’s an honour to be a part of the family.
What’s your role on the show?
So, I’ll be out and about around the UK with Melvin taking on various challenges and trying to win every single one. I’m actually extremely competitive. I always try to hide it, but I feel like it’s gonna come out in full force for this.

The CLASSIC SHOW
1992-2002
Mark Lamarr
The original door-stepper and instigator of the catchphrase "Where are you Mark!" Lamarr was spotted by Planet 24 producers while on the comedy club circuit who hired him for their late night Channel 4 show The Word before moving him to The Big Breakfast.
After leaving The Brekkie in 1996 Lamarr has gone on to have a successful career hosting Never Mind The Buzzcocks and working across a variety of BBC Radio networks. Lemarr made one final appearence on The Big Breakfast in 2000 where his infamous quiff was shaven off by Johnny Vaughan.
Paul Ross
Paul Ross was the second of the door-steppers on the Big Breakfast. TV success runs in his family. His mother was an extra on Eastenders for many years, though got the sack after Paul spoilered a major show storyline on his LBC radio show in 2006.
Paul is also, famously, brother to broadcaster and TV presenter Jonathan Ross.
Paul was chosen to work on The Big Breakfast after serving as editor & producer on The Word - the Channel 4 late night show also produced by Planet 24. As well as door-stepping Paul also spent time in the main presenter chair alongside Gaby Roslin. Paul named his daughter after the show, 'BeBe' after her birth was announced live on air. Since leaving the BB Paul has gone on to work in radio and TV with notable shows including Most Haunted Live & Jeopardy! He was also the subject of a bizarre internet meme after a canvas print of him went on sale on Amazon. Amazingly over 300 people have since reviewed this stunning piece of art.
Keith Chegwin
"Wake up you beggars, it's Cheggars!"
That was the cry welcoming the UK broadcasting legend to The Big Breakfast in 1993.
Keith famously stormed the GMTV studios during his time on the show... which he ironically went on to present after leaving the BB.
As well as presenting the Down Your Doorstep section of The BB Keith also spent time in the main presenters chair. It was revealed in Cockney Vic's 'Talking BowLocks' Podcast that Keith even spent some time living in the iconic Big Breakfast House.
Keith was one of the hallowed few that got to present the last ever Big Breakfast in 2002 burying a time capsule full of iconic Big Breakfast objects for future generations to enjoy.
Sadly, Cheggers passed away in December 2017
Barbara Windsor
Richard Orford
Replaced Mark Little on the Big Breakfast after beginning his career on ITV1's Sunday morning children's show The Disney Club.
Sadly Richard's stint as main presenter on The Big Breakfast was a short one. He began in Easter 1996 only to be kicked off in favour of Rick Adams that September.
Richards continued on The Big Breakfast joining the outside broadcast unit on the Down The Doorstep segment and was last seen on the show on New Year's Eve 1999.
Jason Bradbury
He of Gadget Show and, erm, Don't Scare The Hare fame made one of his first television appearances brandishing The Big Breakfast microphone in 1994.
Lisa Rogers
Joining the show to host 'Find me a Weather Presenter' Lisa appeared in an irregular role as a doorstepper before becomming a regular presenter in the final year.
Members of the team more famous for their role as main presenters also hosted the doorstep section including:
Rick Adams
Richard Bacon
Johnny Vaughan
Paul Tonkinson
Gail Porter
Richard Bacon's time Down your doorstep was most notable for the incredible game 'Streaky Bacon' which encouraged members of the public to appear on live TV in little more than a bacon shaped thong.
Mike McClean Hosted the last ever classic OB in 2002 - a broadcast from Channel 4 HQ featuring a 50 foot gnome and two fingers. Need I say more.
