Library Telescope Donation

In 2018, Bartlesville Astronomical Society donated a telescope to the Bartlesville Public Library. BAS was one of ten astronomy clubs nationwide that were granted a telescope that year by the Astronomical League's Library Telescope Program, which is made possible by the generosity of the Horkheimer Charitable Fund. One of our dedicated members, Rick Bryant, who is also the founder and leader of our youth group, Bartian Youth Astronomers, assembled the telescope and prepared it for use.

The telescope, an Orion StarBlast 4.5 inch Dobsonian reflector, is available for check-out by library patrons. It is mounted on a sturdy table-top base, simple to use, and features quality optics. Observers can use it to view lunar craters, Saturn's rings, Jupiter's Galilean moons, and much more.

Bartlesville Public Library has added this telescope to their "Library of Things", available at the Reference Desk. You can visit the Bartlesville Public Library's website to learn more about the telescope and find out how to reserve it for check-out. Please contact the library at (918) 338-4161 with questions.
