Research Exercise (Due 2/13)
- Visit the IT Tutorials page and look through the Visual Guide to Google Scholar
- Choose a topic from the list below, and research it using Google Scholar as your starting point.
- Akrotiri, Erechtheion, Doryphoros, Greek votive offerings, Temple C at Selinus, Pompeii, Roman Baths, Roman army, Campus Martius, Forum of Trajan, Column of Trajan, Panathenaic Amphorae, Parthenon, Ptolemaic Egypt, Oracle bone inscriptions (Chinese), Chinese porcelain, Chinese landscape painting, Chinese calligraphy, Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu), Byzantine churches, Islamic Calligraphy, Gandhara, Illuminated manuscripts, Chartres cathedral, Gothic cathedrals
- Read the article abstracts and book descriptions on the Google Scholar page, and link to abstracts, descriptions, tables of contents, Google book previews, etc., to get an idea of the sources you've found.
- Select 3 articles, 2 books at Auraria library, and 2 books at other libraries, which you think are relevant to your topic based on your quick review.
- Cite your selected sources, and their location.

- Book at other library e.g.: Boardman, J. 1998. Early Greek Vase Painting. New York: Thames and Hudson. (Denver Public Library)
- Write 2 sentences about each source, one outlining the author's thesis / argument and another explaining why you feel the source is relevant.
- Type everything into the "Research Exercise" in Blackboard (formatted as a quiz and located under the "Assessments" tab in Blackboard).
- You may add an extra source in your quiz for extra credit.
