Part 1: Write a 150 to 200-word response to one of the following questions, and post it as a reply to the appropriate thread in the Discussion Forum in Blackboard.
- Find a sculpture or painting produced in Italy that was designed on a Classical model, and describe how it displays Classical influence or conscious citation. (You must choose a unique work. So, if a classmate has already discussed a particular Italian Renaissance work, you will need to pick another. Classical models may be duplicated if necessary, because often, multiple Renaissance works were modeled after the same Classical model.)
- Find an architectural structure (church, public building, monument, etc.) from the Italian Renaissance that is based on a Classical model. Compare the two structures, pointing out what aspects of the Classical model are imitated and what aspects are innovative. (You must choose a unique work. So, if a classmate has already discussed a particular Italian Renaissance work, you will need to pick another. Classical models may be duplicated if necessary, because often, multiple Renaissance works were modeled after the same Classical model.)
- Find a work that you would describe as characteristically "Renaissance", and discuss its various details, indicating the details that caused you to describe it as characteristically "Renaissance". (You must choose a unique work. So, if a classmate has already discussed a particular Italian Renaissance work for this discussion question, you will need to pick another.)
Please either upload image(s) of your work(s) to the thread to which you are replying, or link to Internet image(s), so that your classmates will have a visual aid when composing their replies.
