Feb 25 2010 - Would it be possible to provide each voter with a printed receipt showing all the town wide vote totals? This is my vision - a person casts their votes - the computer system knows what the townwide or precintwide tallies are in the various races at that time - the computer system prints out a random tally - the randomization is done "in time" - in other words, the printed tally might show the tally from one minute ago, two minutes ago, three minutes ago, 4 minutes ago, 5 minutes ago, ten minutes ago or maybe even 12 minutea ago. ("ago" = before this particular voter cast his/her ballot). This procedure would maintain the privacy of the votong booth, and provide a reasonable proof of accuracy for the election.
