Life for many starts out easier than for others in this world. And then when we settle into a bit of comfort, some chaos ensues and we may lose security, comfort, relationships and subsequently, our ability to rest.
God wants me to "Enter His rest", but how do I do that?
"for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience." Hebrews 4
So each day, I choose to submit to who God says he is as my creator, savior and Lord, I have the opportunity to then just obey his instruction to love those who dispise or abuse me. I then find rest because nothing they say or do can ever keep me from my calling of lloving them and challenging them to submit to , glorify and find rest in him.. I feel fulfilled in knowing I am fulfilling his calling for me. He also gives me further instruction...
"Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. "Phillipians 4
And as I think on what God has done in his love for me, I can then be free without fear to show his love to others...
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13
So as I quit pursuing my dreams and aspirations, and make my aspirations His kingdom and glory, then I will find the rest that I really crave and need.
I find my rest because I cease from striving to control my life, and rest in just working to fulfill his calling of seeking the restoration of his rule over all.
God's plan for your life is for you seek him and
submit to building his kingdom.
Adam did not trust God's rule and lost his rest.
