Acts is a continuation of the life of Christ and his disciples, written by Luke to complete the story he started in the book of Luke.
My life verse that has been my calling is;
Act 26:17-18 ... I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.
Some people reference this as the Acts of the Apostles, whereas it could aptly be called the Acts of the Holy Spirit who is the primary player in this book.
It was written to Theophilus (whose name means friend of God) who Luke had also written his Gospel to. It is assumed that Theophilus was a Roman leader, since Luke addresses him as "most excellent" which would have been the tradition at that time. Theophilus was also likely a disciple of Luke, since Luke speaks of instruction he had previously provided. By having it in writing, Theophilus could be more confident in sharing it accurately.
Luke 1:1-4 NKJV 1 Inasmuch as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those things which have been fulfilled among us, 2 just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us, 3 it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus, 4 that you may know the certainty of those things in which you were instructed.

The most important idea in Acts - Repentance- Christopher Hilken 3/8/20
You can know what you have done, feel bad about what I've done, hate that I did that, want to do better next time, or will do different next time you are in this situation...but it will not restore you to God. You must turn away, repent from your own life, and submit to God.
Luke 15:11 Prodical son - son was dead and now alive because he turned back.
Repentance is redirection of mind, remorse in the emotion, responsibility without excuses, recognition of my broken condition, request to be forgiven, reorientation of affection, resolution to a new path,
