Parking.

Park at Fro car park ( SO 292201 ). Take the Old Hereford Road out of Abergavenny. Fork left after passing ‘The Crown’ in Pantygelli. Carry on through Bettws and the car park is on the left about 500 metres past the hamlet.

Directions

1. Take the path at the top of the car park leading to the Sugar Loaf. This path turns to the left following a stone wall / fence. Go thro the 2nd gate on the left (footpath sign) and follow the sunken green lane to Blaenawey farm.
2. Go through the gate and pass 2 barns and a 2nd gate on the left. Head down the farm drive to the road (views to the Big Skirrid).
3. Turn Right at the road, pass Gt Bettws farm and phone box on left then reach a small lane leading to Bettws Church with its interesting stained glass window. NOTE Victorian postbox in the wall at the corner. Key to church can be obtained from Rev Gray tel: 01873 859881.
4. Return to road and turn left. Take 1st footpath on the left and cross stream via old stone footbridge. Continue to gate. Keep to the middle of the next field passing ponds on right. Views to Sugar loaf to the right. At the next stile ( high ) go straight across field then go through left hand gate. Keep to hedge on left and drop down to stream in Cwm Brynarw. Good place on the bank alongside the forestry to stop for a break – views to Skirrid.
5. Cross stile and stepping stones (be careful, they are slippery and unstable) and cross 2nd stile. Turn left up stream, passing waterfalls and Cwm Cottage to reach lane leading to Bettws church.
6. Turn right up road to return to carpark.
