- The Steel Horse was previously known as the Charthouse, and before that the Herbert Arms, when it was owned by a Mr Ough. As well as being a publican he had a reputation as a bonesetter.
- Sir Harry Llewellyn, who won fame as an international equestrian riding Foxhunter to win (amongst other things) a Gold Medal at the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki, lived at the manor in Llanfihangel.
- Pant-y-goitre Bridge was built in 1821 by local engineer John Upton. The large holes in the bridge pillars are designed to reduce pressure during flooding.
- The river here is renowned for salmon and trout fishing. It is also protected - watch out for kingfishers, dragonflies and evidence of otters.
