Park at Keeper’s Pond

Directions

1. Walk back to road and cross to go down the Pwlldu road opposite. Pass the Lamb and Fox pub (tel: 07790682832).
2. After a building with a gas-tank outside it take track to the right and then immediately left onto a gravelled path. Where the path turns to the right, carry on along the now grassy path to a kissing gate.
3. Carry on to the far stile. Keep going on along the path which is usually a bit boggy. pass the footpath sign on the right leading to Llanwenarth.
4. When you reach a gravelled track turn right. This track continues going left around Gilwern Hill - good views, passing quarries on the left and a steep drop on the right. Continue staying on the same level past a large quarry with high cliffs. Don’t venture too close as the rock-face is unstable. Good place to stop for a break.
5. Continue following the now narrow stony path and eventually drop down onto the road. Turn left and follow the road back to the car park.

The route can be walked in reverse.
