Parking

To get to the car park, take the Crickhowell road out of Gilwern, past the garage on the left, turn left opposite the Corn Exchange pub and go up Church Road. The car park is a few hundred yards up on the right.

Directions

1. Facing canal, turn left and go under bridge. Pass Castle Narrowboats on right and carry on along canal to Bridge 103.
2. Here you have to go up to road, cross zebra crossing then turn right to carry on along towpath. (Views to Sugarloaf and Gilwern Village on left).
3. Pass bridge 102, go under the Heads of the Valleys road on Bridge 101A.
4. After Bridge 99 (just after large iron sign ‘Blaenavon World Heritage Site - with a bench) pass church on right. This village is Govilon.
5. Continue to Bridge 98, then go up to road and turn left into Derwen Deg. Pass Derwen Deg Close on left then go along Cycle Path 46 which is opposite the old Govilon Station.
6. At the first bench (marker post MC301) note view to Govilon wharf. Turn right down zig-zag path to rejoin canal towpath. Return the way you came.
