Generals Sports Update

Baseball picks up huge wins

Generals win 2 of 3

The Generals played a county rival, Central High School, on April 1. Despite coming back in late innings, the Generals fell to the Falcons, 4-2. Dawson Moomaw, Zander Jodrie, and Seth Moomaw each had one of Mountain View’s three hits.


On Monday, the Generals traveled to Buffalo Gap. Starter Jaden Click pitched 6 innings while striking out 6 batters, and Dawson Moomaw came into the game in the 7th as the relief pitcher, striking out the three batters he faced. The Generals won the game 6-4. D. Moomaw collected 2 RBIs and a double in the win. Click and Joey McNamara each had 2 singles, and Seth Moomaw contributed a double as well.


On Wednesday, the Generals faced the Strasburg Rams at home, playing 6 innings due to the mercy rule. The Generals won 11-1 over the formerly undefeated Rams. Brayden Smith pitched a complete game, and only allowed 4 hits while striking out 9 batters. Jordan Polk and Hunter Rinker each contributed a double, single, and a combined 3 RBIs. Dawson Moomaw and Ethan Bly each had 2 singles and 1 RBI. Zander Jodrie also had 2 singles.


The JV Baseball team dropped 3 tough games. A hard-fought 6-11 loss to Central. The Generals then lost to Buffalo Gap by a score of 2-4. The Generals then lost to Strasburg by a score of 2-10. The JV Generals record stands at 2-5.


Tennis wins one, drops one

Tennis improves to 3-1

The Generals tennis team split their last two matches. The Generals lost a tough contest to 3A West Virginia power Jefferson Co. by a score of 5-4.


The Generals then defeated rival Page Co. by a dominating score of 9-0. The Generals improved their record to 3-1. Both matches were played at the New Market Park courts. The scores are listed below.

Girls Soccer 2 matches against county rivals

Generals tie Falcons, Lose to rams

The Generals Girls Varsity Soccer team battled county rival Central to a 3-3 score on April 1. The Generals were led by Annika Dellinger with all 3 goals. Hannah Whitaker had 2 assists. Kezia Despirito had one assist.


The Generals dropped a tough contest to county rival Strasburg on April 5 by a score of 5-1. Hannah Whitaker had the Generals lone goal. MaryKate Manning had 6 saves for the Generals in goal. The Generals record stands at 2-3-1.

Softball Still Battling for first Victory

Generals showing improvement

The Softball team dropped 4 games over the last stretch before spring break.

The Generals lost 23-2 in five innings to Page Co. at home on March 29. Amy Hedrick hit a triple to right field, Bre Franklin had a base hit, and Virginia McDonald had a stolen base.

The Generals suffered an 11-0 loss in 5 innings at Central High School on March 30. Emma Saeler had a base hit.


The Generals lost 12-2 in 5 innings at Buffalo Gap on April 4. Emma Saeler and Amy Hedrick each had a base hit to right field


The Generals lost to county rival Strasburg 19-5 in 7 innings on April 6. The Generals were led by Bre Franklin with 2 singles, an RBI and a run scored. Emma Saeler and Reice Hedrick each with a single and a run scored. The Generals are 0-7, 0-5 in the Bull Run.


JV Softball dropped 4 contest. The JV Generals started with a 17-0 loss at Page on March 29. The Generals then lost to Central 21-4 on March 30. On April 4, the JV Generals lost to Buffalo Gap by a score of 17-7. The Generals then finished with a 17-7 loss to county rival Strasburg. The JV Generals are 1-6, 1-4 in the Bull Run



Boys soccer drops matches to county rivals

Falcons and Rams defeat Generals

The varsity boys soccer team dropped two matches to Central and Strasburg since the last Generals Sports Update.

On April 1, the Generals lost to Central by a score of 4-0. The Generals faced Strasburg on April 5. The Rams came away with a 6-0 victory. The Generals record now stands at 1-4.

The JV Generals also lost to the Falcons and Rams. The Generals lost to Central by a score of 8-0 and then dropped a close contest to the Rams by a score of 3-0. The JV Generals record stands at 0-4.
