On Wednesday, the Mountain View Generals girls cross country team was able to successfully clinch the final 4th spot for Regionals by only one point at the New Market Battlefield. They were able to narrowly ink out a win against Strasburg, scoring 98 points overall. Mountain View was led by Jadyn Foster who placed 9th and put in an impressive time of 23:51, followed by her sister Jordyn who finished 12th with a time of 24:26. Trinity Stanley (24th, 28:04), Jennifer Farmer (27th, 28:44), Ashlyn Whitman (29th, 28:58) and Leah Diehl (44th, 31:30) helped contribute immensely to Mountain View’s historic one-point victory also. The Generals girls team will be traveling Wednesday to Central to compete in next week’s Region 2B matchup.

The General’s boys team put together a strong performance at home but sadly couldn’t punch their ticket to Regionals, placing 6th out of 8 teams with 167 points. The Generals top performers were seniors Ethan Bly (23rd, 20:35) and Will Streett (35th, 21:45), followed by Nate Farmer (38th, 22:18), Tai Croushore (40th, 22:21), Ashton Hilton (41st, 22:54), and Aday Martin-Fonseca (44th, 23:21). Mountain View senior Ethan Bly finished 23rd overall and was the only runner to qualify individually for regionals in the county. Bly beat out Luray's Calder Liscomb and Madison County's Conner Janney at the finish to secure his spot. Bly is trying to return to the 2A State meet for the third time and will compete at Regionals on Wednesday, representing MVHS individually.
