Three Wrestlers Advance to State

Lemon wins Region championship in 138 lbs class

The Region B Wrestling Championships proved successful for three Generals wrestlers.

Jesse Lemon led the way for the Generals capturing the Region B Championship in the 138 lbs. class. Lemon got a little payback defeating Clarke County's Blake Jacobson in the final 3-1. Jacobson had defeated Lemon in the Bull Run District final last week. Braxton Biller also advanced to the state meet by finishing as the runner-up in the 160 lbs. class. Hunter Rinker finished third in the 220 lbs. class to also advance to the state meet.

All three wrestlers will be competing Friday and Saturday (2/18-2/19) in the Salem Civic center for a chance at a VHSL individual championship.

Pirtle has best finish

Mountain View High School boys team placed 19th overall in the state meet

and the Mountain View High School girls team placed 24th overall. Here were some of the best finishes for the Generals.


12th place Shelton, Steven JR in the 200yrd freestyle

15th place Whitman, Ashlyn SO in the 4 200yrd freestyle

7th place Pirtle, Stuart SO in the 50 yrd. freestyle

12th place Shelton, Steven in the 500yrd freestyle

10th place in the 200 yrd. Freestyle Relay with Pirtle Stuart, Shelton Steven, Croushore Tai, Hilton Ashton

12th place Iverson, Destiny in the 100 Yard Backstroke

13th place in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with Whitman Ashlyn, Iverson Destiny, Foster Jordyn, Martin Rosa


The state meet held at RVA Swim was the conclusion of a successful season for our swim teams that saw a tremendous improvement by our swimmers.

Generals season Ends in Bull Run Tourney

The Mountain View Generals girl’s basketball team faced Madison County on February 7 for a close 54-48 loss. Bre Franklin led the team with 20 points. Annika Dellinger contributed 10, while also having 14 rebounds. Alicia Bare had 8 points and 6 rebounds. Mya Councill added 6 points and 9 assists for the Generals


On February 8, the Generals fell to Rappahannock County High School with a final score of 52-41. Bre Franklin led the Generals with 12 points, while also contributing 6 rebounds. Annika Dellinger had 11 while leading the team with 10 rebounds. Mya Councill had 7 points and 6 assists, while Ava Pittington had 7 rebounds.


On February 11, the Generals played their last home game of the season and ended it with an exciting 48-42 win over Clarke County. Annika Dellinger led the Generals with 20 points, 10 of which were free throws. She also got 10 rebounds. Bre Franklin contributed 11 points and 6 rebounds. Alicia Bare put up 7 points while collecting 7 rebounds as well. Mya Councill added 6 points, 4 assists, and 5 steals.


On February 14, in the first round of the Bull Run District Tournament, the General’s girl’s basketball team fell to the Luray Bulldogs 49-22. The Generals battled the #1 ranked Bulldogs through the first half and trailed only 20-15, but a lopsided third quarter allowed Luray to bust the game open. Bre Franklin put up 8 points, and multiple girls contributed 4. Ava Pittington collected 10 rebounds, and Mya Councill had 8 rebounds. Annika Dellinger had 7 rebounds. The Generals ended the season with a 6-17 record.



Boys Basketball has tough losses to end season

Generals nearly pull off win at Clarke

The final week of Mountain View High School's boys basketball team started on February 5 against Madison County. The game ended with a loss for the Generals 58-26. The Generals were led by Michael Spaur with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Ethan Bly had 4 points and Keyshawn Davis added 3.


On February 8, the Generals hosted Rappahannock County. It was an ugly one as the Panthers walked away with a 91-43 win. Mountain View was led by Johnny Hasley with 14 points and 3 assists. Evan Estep had 12 points and Michael Spaur added 7 points and 4 rebounds.


The Generals lost yet another game on February 10 against Buffalo Gap. The final score was 62-32 with the Generals scoring single digits in 3 out of 4 quarters. Mountain View was led by Johnny Hasley with 13 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. Michael Spaur added 10 points for the Generals along with 2 assists.


The final game of the season occurred on February 11 at Clarke County High School. A close 56-59 loss to the Eagles left the Generals with only one win on the season. The Generals were led by Michael Spaur with 23 points and 4 assists. Johnny Hasley had 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Evan Estep added 11 points and 7 rebounds for the Generals.


The boys finished the season with a 1-20 record.
