Academic Team Finishes Runner-up in the Region
Defeat district rival Clarke Co.
The academic team finished as Region B Tournament Runner-up at the event held at Page Co. High School on February 3. Buckingham Co. finished as the Region B champion. The tournament featured a win over Clarke Co. which defeated the Generals in the championship of the Bull Run District Tournament. That match featured an overtime win on a tiebreaker question answered by Joey Kohrs.

Swim Team send 8 to the state meet
Swim puts together great performance
For the third straight season, the Generals swim team had athletes advance to the state meet. Eight General swimmers will advance to the Class 2 State Meet on February 17 at Swim RVA, Collegiate School Aquatics Center.

Wrestlers Advance to Region Meet
Lemon and biller finish as Runner-ups in the bull Run
The wrestling team participated in the Bull Run District Wrestling Tournament on Friday, February 4. Jesse Lemon (138 lbs.) and Braxton Biller (160 lbs.) finished as runner-ups in their respective weight classes. Jackson Miller (113 lbs.) and Hunter Rinker (220 lbs.) both finished third. The four Generals advance to the Region B Wrestling Tournament which will be held on Saturday, February 12 at Stuarts Draft High School with matches starting at 11 AM.

Boys Basketball Defeats Strasburg for first win
GEnerals defeat County rival
The Mountain View High School boys basketball team won their first game on February 1 against Strasburg High School. The Generals were down 26-22 at halftime but after a strong 3rd quarter they took a 39-36 lead entering the 4th. Another strong quarter for the Generals in the 4th gave the Generals a 53-46 win over the Rams! Mountain View was led by Michael Spaur with 19 points. Johnny Hasley added 18 points and 5 rebounds while Evan Estep added 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.
On February 2, the Generals played at home against Riverheads High School. A low-scoring game for the Generals as they only scored a total of 23 points. After a 4 point first quarter for the Gladiators, they scored double digits in all 3 remaining quarters. The final score ended up being 46-23 in favor of the Gladiators. Mountain View was led by Evan Estep with 11 points and 3 rebounds. Johnny Hasley added 4 points and 4 rebounds. Dawson Moomaw and Michael Spaur also had 4 rebounds apiece.
The Generals ended the week with a loss at home against Madison County on February 5. The Generals only scored 6 points in the first half and were down 19-6 at halftime. Not much changed in the 2nd half and the game ended with a 58-26 win for the Mountaineers. Mountain View was led by Michael Spaur with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Ethan Bly had 4 points and Keyshawn Davis added 3.
Girls Basketball Defeats Page Co.
Generals come from 14 down
The Generals girls basketball team played three games the past week, starting off the week on February 1 at Strasburg High School. The Strasburg Rams beat the Generals with a final score of 42-32. Bre Franklin led the team with 10 points, followed by Annika Dellinger with 8, and Mya Councill with 6 points. Alicia Bare and Maddie Hoover each had 4. Annika Dellinger had a total of 12 rebounds.
On February 2, the General’s girl’s basketball team traveled to William Monroe High School to face the Green Dragons. The Green Dragon defeated the Generals 48-33. Bre Franklin contributed 11 points in the loss, as well as 8 rebounds. Mya Councill had 11 points, and Annika Dellinger had 9.
To end the week, the Generals hosted the Page County Panthers at home for an exciting win, 52-49. The Generals had four players with double-digit points, including Annika Dellinger with 14, Mya Councill and Ava Pittington each with 11, and Bre Franklin with 10. Annika Dellinger also contributed 9 rebounds. Bre Franklin contributed 6, and both Mya Councill and Alicia Bare each added 5.
