The Careers Service

The Careers Service provides advice and guidance to enable students and graduates to make well-informed career decisions throughout their studies, and transition successfully into placements, graduate employment, further study and research.

Support from the Careers Service includes:


  • Interactive careers resources including the website with Virtual Reality interview experiences and online career management programmes, all accessible 24/7

  • Supporting you to gain work experience and develop your skills

  • The Student Jobshop in the Students' Union, which advertises jobs on campus and in the local area, as well as providing advice on finding work experience

  • Workshops on developing your skills; choosing a career; finding jobs and placements or postgraduate study; professional networking using social media; plus successful CVs, applications and interview skills

  • Events where you can meet with employers and alumni on campus

  • Vacancies for work experience, part-time and vacation jobs; summer and year-long placements; and graduate employment

  • Individual appointments with trained advisers to discuss anything from choosing and planning a career; reviewing your applications to jobs and postgraduate study; and succeeding at interviews, assessment centres and online tests

  • Specialist services for international students, postgraduate students and researchers, and those from non-traditional backgrounds

  • Additional support for disabled students for example advising on positive strategies for disclosing a disability to recruiters

  • Our services are available for up to three years after graduating
