NCEA Level 1 Numeracy
Aims
This course is intended for students who have been identified at Year 10 as requiring individual attention in meeting the numeracy requirements for NCEA Level 1 and University Entrance. This course is 100% internally assessed.
Course content
This course will focus on the Numeracy Standards that provide an alternative pathway to gain the Numeracy requirements for NCEA Levels 1-3 and University Entrance.
The skills associated with Number, Measurement and Statistics will be developed and assessed in the context of other subjects and general life skills
There will be two financial unit standards with a focus on understanding debt and budgeting.
Assessment
Assessment of this course will be via a portfolio of naturally occurring evidence built on throughout the full school year.
This course is 100% internally assessed.
Qualification gained
Full course completion - 16 credits at NCEA Level 1
Successful completion of portfolio work results in gaining the 10 Numeracy credits required for NCEA Level 1 and University Entrance
Prior knowledge required
Entry by negotiation with the HOD Mathematics
