Course Content

NCEA Level 1 French is designed to equip you with the language that you would need if you were to go on a school exchange to France. Over the year we will study some of the following topics and you will create a portfolio of your interactions and choose between creating a portfolio of writing or a spoken presentation as part of your internal assessment.

  • Family and friends

  • Tourism

  • Travel and holidays

  • Shopping

  • Health and food

  • Technology use

As part of your Internal assessment component you will create an interaction portfolio and either a writing portfolio or a spoken presentation.

Assessment

There are three internal assessment tasks to choose from, you will complete two. The interaction standard is compulsory, you will choose between the spoken presentation and the writing portfolio. Externally assessed standards are examined nationally at the end of the year.

Qualification Gained

Full course completion — 19 or 20 credits in NCEA French Level 1

In consultation with your teacher there may be a possibility for some students to complete a maximum of 24 credits
