Our SDG is SDG 9 Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. SDG 9 helps make and encourage new technologies and innovations, and it supports infrastructure like roads, bridges, buildings, etc. It also helps industries and businesses grow. This SDG also promotes sustainable industries. We chose this SDG because we felt that it was ignored and was really important since it deals with things like industries. SDG 9 has inspired us to take action around our community. SDG 9 has made a big impact on our lives.
Innovation and infrastructure are the foundations to society
An inquiry into how access to industry, innovation, and infrastructure can be improved.
An inquiry into why developing countries have certain infrastructure
An inquiry into why some industries fail.
For our Level 1 action we teamed up with Chilly Spoons in Melbourne (Chilly spoons is a frozen yogurt desert place) What me and the store owner established was that if anyone from Freedom 7 came to Chilly Spoons on on February 26, 2022 and said they were from freedom 7, they would get a 20% discount. When I was there he was also so kind as to give me 22 coupons to give to my class, which we did.
For our Level 2 action we went to aerial adventures which is a ropes course, and we raked leaves for an hour. We did this on March 20, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
For my level 3 action, I teamed with Tiny Turtle and I gave them SDG 9 stickers with the Tiny Turtle logo. I gave them stickers so they could pass them out to people throughout the day. I gave them around 25 SDG 9 stickers. I did it on the 23rd of March at 6:00 pm and they said that they would just give them to people with their check, they were very nice.
I created popsicle stick buildings, and put them in a library for a few days. The flier that came with the buildings gave some names of businesses to support (chilly spoons, ariel adventures, )
Level 3-Lorelei J.
For my level 3 action, I had an information booth about SDG 9 at the cocoa beach friday festival where I talked about how it was a global issue, our LOIs, and our central idea, and SDG 9’s targets. I also handed out what I called “action cards”, and had my “action link” taped to the table for people that visited to take action and donate to the SDG fund. I definitely felt that I spreaded more awareness, and I’m hoping that those people dispersed the awareness to others.
For my Level 3 Action, I decorated my street with a chalk art mural promoting SDG 9. I mentioned that people should invest in electric cars, that they should be innovative and support SDG 9, and mentioned that 16 percent of the United states population does not have access to broadband networks. I drew a picture of an electric car, a bridge, and solar-powered buildings to represent innovation, industry, and infrastructure, and said than to find out more, people can visit www.un.org. Our street gets a LOT of deliveries, and many people walk on it every day, so my message should reach a lot of people.
