Breakthrough with Generation Education

Almost 1.4 billion people in the world can't read. In 2018, about 258 million kids didn’t have access to quality education. Currently, 773 million adults can’t read or write, and most of them aren’t aware of the value of education. If every child in the world learned how to read then about 170 million fewer people would not be living in poverty.
Our SDG, Quality Education, tries to get everyone a quality education to make sure they succeed in the future. When you have an education, you can solve the other SDGs and live healthier, more sustainable lives. We chose this SDG because we believe that education is a key factor in creating and maintaining a successful society. This SDG is important to us because if everyone in the world gets a quality education then more people will get good jobs, living situations will improve, and all the other SDGs will get closer to being solved.

Level 1 action
For our level 1 action, we created two informational videos for different grade ranges. After the video, we had an activity for the students to do. We emailed the videos, instructions, and activities to all the grade teachers in the school. The lesson we taught should spread awareness about Quality Education.
Level 2 action
For our Level 2 Action, we went to the Learning Forward Education Center Inc. We went there because their goals hit on our SDG. For example, they want to make sure that students go to the next grade and don’t get held back. This organization is needed in the community because it helps students that have a hard time working have quality education and this is also why it was formed. The impact this organization has it helps people who have trouble working get a quality education. This organization helps accomplish our SDG because it helps give people with all sorts of skill levels get a quality education. Furthermore, our perspective has changed after our experience because we now realize that helping people get a quality education is fun. In addition, the organization has changed because of our action by having the students get taught by kids that are not that much older than them. At the Learning Forward Education Center Inc., we helped make a background for their Star Wars puppet show. Also, we helped the students make their puppets, come up with their scripts, and perform their shows.
Level 3 action - Eliza
For my level 3 action, I created two videos explaining what quality education is, why everyone should have a quality education, how you can take action, and how the different perspectives of education affect the overall quality of Education. I posted these videos on social media.
Level 3 action - Varun
For my Level 3 Action, I created informative pamphlets about the importance of quality education, why people are struggling to get one, facts, and how they could help. Then, I passed them out to my neighbors, friends, and family.
Level 3 action - Izzy
For my level 3 action I drew a picture every day for 2 weeks and posted them on Instagram and shared my posts with my other family members to try and share with more and more people.
