This SDG works on reducing discrimination and inequality throughout the globe whether it's by taking action or even leaving a kind note. We love doing what we do and bringing awareness to others in fun projects. Our SDG is here so we can all live in a more inclusive, sustainable and fair world. We also all feel that inequalities are a horrible thing that need to be learned about because are so many types of inequality that people don't know about.
Central Idea
Inclusion leads to the improvement of equal opportunities.
Lines of Inquiry
An inquiry into the different forms of inequality.
An inquiry into the impact of discriminatory laws and how we can eliminate them.
An inquiry into how social class affects economic and political inclusion
For our level one we did 4 chalk murals around the school. We did them to promote gender, race, and origin equality. The fourth one was our SDG logo. Kids would be able to walk by and see all the chalk murals. Depending on what grade you were, they were the ones you would see. We also did one by the library so everyone could see it. This action was really fun to complete and we made a great impact on our school.
Our level two action was going to the Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation. We picked to come here because it ensures disability and age discrimination. No matter if you have a disability or not, everyone should have access to health care in their country. Here we played board games with the residents and helped with everyday jobs like folding clothes.
For my level 3 action I emailed different organizations with 7 questions for my SDG group. I did this so my group could have more research on our SDG group.
For my level 3 action I made a poster with QR code on it telling people to scan the QR code to go to a video on me telling them about SDG 10 to spread the word about our SDG.
My level 3 action was to make bracelets with quotes about equality. Along with the bracelets, I created a website with a QR code if people wanted to find more information about our SDG. I went to a few houses in my neighborhood and to the beach at Cocoa to give away my bracelets.
My level three action was originally to go to the park and teach other kids about my SDG… but the heat- beat us and we decided to do it at my house. I wanted to teach kids because I read an article that inspired me about kids taking action. I taught kids ages 7-15! Even my sister learned about my SDG and she goes to this school!
