Sustainable Development Goal 16 is the goal that tries to accomplish peace, justice, and strong institutions. SDG 16 wants to stop bribery and have fair punishments. SDG 16 also wants to have every government be strong and have separate constitutions. SDG 16 wants no violence and for everyone to treat each other fairly. \We chose this SDG because we have heard about wars and violence and we want to make the world more peaceful. So, we decided that we should choose this group to help solve these global issues. If the world was more peaceful the world would be a better place to live in. SDG 16 wants more peace and equal justice. Everyone can take action to help this SDG!
Peace and justice cultivates positive world-wide relationships.
LOI 1: An inquiry into how the tranquility of relationships in communities have changed due to food shortages.
LOI 2: An inquiry into how having a harsh punishment impacts how people treat others in their lives.
LOI 3: An inquiry into how having a strong government foundation can impact the fairness of justice in that area.
The Peacemakers made an email about which we sent to all of the teachers at Freedom 7 Elementary which had an activity in it which is an acrostic poem for the word “PEACE”. The email also had directions on how to do an acrostic poem. The Peacemakers got some very inspiring poems back from the students.
For the Peacemakers’ level 2 action the Peacemakers helped the Cocoa Beach Library by making flashcards and worksheets for young kids. The Peacemakers did it virtually by getting on zoom and working on them together.
Level 3 Action - Talia
Talia made posters that she hung around her community. On the poster Talia advertised a website she made about the United Nations and the Sustainable Development Goals and how everyone can help solve the SDGs.
Level 3 Action - Rodin
Rodin made three videos that were about the three lines of inquiry that the Peacemakers had. He posted the videos on YouTube.
Level 3 Action - Leylani
Leylani made posters that showed facts and figures about SDG 16. The posters were hung around her parent’s nail salon. The posters also had links to the UN website.
