Clean Water, Clean Lives
Kenny, Haniyah, Ethan, Zach
Our SDG works on solving the worldwide issue of clean water and sanitation. Our SDG is trying to get clean water and proper sanitation around the world, so people are able to properly live. The reason we chose this SDG is that we all believe that Clean Water and Sanitation is a human necessity and would like to make a big change.
Central Idea
Quality water and sanitation leads to future solutions for other global issues.
Lines of Inquiry
An inquiry into how contaminated water and poor sanitation affects people.
An inquiry into how water and sanitation problems connect to other global issues.
An inquiry into how major sanitation and water issues occur and can be avoided.
Level 1 action
We put hand sanitizer bottles around the school. These bottles had custom labels on them that had facts about SDG 6
Level 2 action
For our level 2 action we went to the Cape Canaveral Water Reclamation and Public Work Facility. We went to have a tour about wastewater treatment. We learned how they can take dirty water and purify the water.
I went to a doctor’s clinic where I hung up posters that gave information about important sanitation issues and clean water.
My level 3 action was going to my neighborhood's crossover from the beach to the neighborhood and giving out water bottles. These bottles had facts about SDG 6 and I would tell people about the UN and the other 17 goals.
Level 3-Haniyah
The action I chose to do was making a website that gives information about what an SDG is and its history, what an SDG is for kids, what SDG 6 is, an activity, and a challenge. I posted it on websites like Google, Tumblr, Pinterest, and more. The activity is a Kahoot where people can try to answer questions without looking back at the information. I used Google Sites to create my website.
I made posters that told people a little bit about my SDG and it had a QR code that led to a YouTube video that would explain the effects of SDG 6 and how you can help. After I was finished creating the poster I handed them out at a local park and hung them up on lamp posts so that people could see them and once they see them they could scan the QR code and feel the need to take action.
