Activity Late Bus

MONDAY, TUESDAY, & THURSDAY – An activity bus is available for students who stay after school to participate in school-sponsored activities, such as clubs, open library sessions, or after-school detention. For those serving detention, students must stay with the office detention supervisor until 4:15 PM and obtain a pass to take the activity bus home. Please note, there is no activity bus on Wednesdays or Fridays, nor on Early Dismissal Days.

Currently, there is one bus covering a special late bus route throughout Seymour, departing the school at approximately 4:15 PM. Parents should be aware that the ride home on the activity bus may be longer than the regular school bus route, and students may not be dropped off at their usual bus stops. A complete list of the late bus route's stops can be accessed at this link: CLICK HERE.  Students still waiting for a ride when the activity bus arrives will be required to take the bus home, as there will be no staff available to supervise students after this time.

Attendance and Eligibility Requirements at SMS Functions

Only students who attend Seymour Middle School are eligible to participate in SMS-sponsored activities, such as athletics, clubs, and dances. To attend these activities, students must be present at school on the day of the event. For weekend events, students must have attended school on the preceding Friday. Students who are suspended, whether in-school or out-of-school, are not permitted to attend any school activities on the day of their suspension. Additionally, students must be present at school for at least four consecutive hours to be eligible to attend an evening event on the same day.

In cases of emergency absences or extenuating circumstances, the Principal or the Principal’s designee (such as the Assistant Principal or Athletic Coordinator) will make the final decision regarding participation. Organizations that independently sponsor activities at SMS will establish their own rules for attendance.

SMS Late Bus Services

We are delighted to announce that starting Monday, September 9th, Seymour Middle School will be introducing "late bus" services for students participating in clubs, activities, and utilizing our library on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. This initiative aims to provide additional support for students engaged in after-school programs.

We believe that this service will enhance the after-school experience for our students and facilitate their participation in various extracurricular activities. Your cooperation and support are greatly appreciated.

After School LMC Hours

The SMS Library Media Center is open after school (starting 9/8/25) until 4:15 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (excluding Early Dismissal Days).

During these hours, students can work independently on homework or projects and check out materials. To ensure a safe and adequately supervised environment, there will be a limited number of spaces available. Students who wish to attend must sign up and may do so using this form:  CLICK HERE
