Request for Late Arrival, Early Dismissal, or Partial Release
Requests for a student's late arrival, early dismissal, or release during the school day should be limited to emergencies or unusual circumstances and will be documented by the school office.
Procedure for Requesting Late Arrival or Early Dismissal
Parents must submit a written request in advance to the building administration if a student needs to arrive late, leave early, or be released for part of the school day. On the day of the early dismissal, students should present a note to the main office at the start of the school day, specifying the date, time, and reason for leaving. If a request is not known in advance, parents or guardians must provide a written request immediately upon arriving at the school, and the student will only be allowed to enter class late or leave early after receiving permission from the principal or designee.
Early Dismissal Procedure
For early dismissal before the school day begins, students must bring a note signed by a parent or guardian to the main office, indicating the date, time, and reason for dismissal. Notes can also be faxed or emailed, but a follow-up phone call is required for verification. During the school day, if a dismissal is needed before 2:15 PM, a parent or guardian must come in person to pick up their child, bringing proper identification and their cell phone for the QR code process. After 2:15 PM, all student dismissals will occur at the “walker door” at 2:30 PM to ensure a smooth end-of-day process.
Dismissal from the Nurse’s Office
If a student feels unwell, they must get a pass from their classroom teacher to visit the school nurse. If the nurse determines the student is ill, they will contact a parent or guardian to pick up the student. A student is not permitted to use their cell phone to arrange for pick-up independently.
