The following district administrative regulations have been provided by the Superintendent and apply to all students:
Chromebook Care and Usage Guidelines
1. Proper Handling: Please remind students to handle Chromebooks with care. Devices should be placed on flat surfaces and closed gently when not in use.
2. Safe Transport: When transporting Chromebooks, students should use their backpacks or designated cases and avoid carrying multiple items that could cause strain.
3. Reporting Issues: If a Chromebook is damaged or malfunctions, please report it immediately to a teacher or the IT department. Prompt reporting helps us address issues quickly.
4. Repair Policy: The district will cover reasonable repair costs for devices that are reported in a timely manner. However, families may be responsible for damages resulting from neglect or misuse.
Responsibility for Damage
It is important for families to understand that students are held responsible for any damage to their assigned Chromebooks.
This includes, but is not limited to:
1. Cracked screens
2. Broken hinges
3. Liquid spills
4. Missing parts
Repair Costs
In the event of damage, the district will assess the situation and determine the necessary repairs. Parents will be responsible for covering the cost of repairs or replacements due to negligence or misuse. The specific cost will be communicated to families based on the extent of the damage.
During the 2024–2025 school year, repair costs ranged from $50 to $250 for a full replacement. If Chromebook damage is the result of malicious or negligent behavior, a replacement Chromebook will not be loaned to the student, and repaired devices will not be returned until payment has been made or a payment plan has been arranged.
