Consequences for Being Late to School (Tardiness)
At 8:00 am, a student is officially counted as tardy if he/she is not inside the classroom for any class or homeroom. If a student is meeting with a guidance counselor, visiting the nurse, or meeting with an administrator, the student will not be marked tardy if they are missing class time. The student will be given an excused tardy. In all cases the student will be responsible for all work missed.
Students are allowed five unexcused tardies each semester (half year). After five tardies, a warning letter will be sent home. Beginning with the sixth unexcused tardy, and for every subsequent unexcused tardy during each semester (up to nine); the student will receive a 30-minute lunch detention. On the tenth unexcused tardy (up to fourteen), the student will receive a one-hour after school detention. Any further tardies will be dealt with individually, but consequences may include a two-hour after school detention, Saturday School, etc.
