Field Trips
Committed to the well-being and development of every student at our school, and recognizing the unique nature of early adolescence, the administration, faculty, and staff of Seymour Middle School (SMS) strive to provide an academic environment that is both safe and educational. One way to achieve this goal is by offering students the opportunity to attend field trips.
Field trips at SMS serve academic or enrichment purposes and are determined by the discretion of teachers, teams of teachers, or the administration. Participation in field trips is considered a privilege, not a right. A student may be excluded from a field trip if the administration believes that the student's participation could jeopardize their safety or the safety of others.
Students may be asked to cover all or part of the expenses associated with field trips. However, no student will be excluded from a field trip due to an inability to pay. Parents or guardians will receive written notification in advance for any field trip within the school system. Written permission from parents or guardians will be required for any field trips outside of the school system.
